Dress: Banana Republic (similar)| Shoes: Cole Haan (similar) | Necklace: Target
Hi friends! Getting back into the swing of blogging is taking a little doing. I totally didn’t post about my #outfitselfies last week, like I was supposed to (unless you follow me on Instagram – get on that).
On this dreary, Tuesday I thought we could use a little bling and something shiny and new. Here’s the breakdown of the two #outfitselfies.
First, above is what I like to call ‘holiday wedding chic’. What do you wear to a wedding at 5pm, that’s not black tie? A LBD, of course! This one is a closet staple and favorite because it can go from work to night depending on accessories. I’ve posted this dress for work on Instagram with ballet flats and a simple necklace. Now you see when you add a pump and a piece of statement jewelry, it looks completely different. Since it is a classic sheath, I decided to play up my makeup as well. Don’t forget, your face is a part of the outfit as well!
Denim: Loft | Sweater: Old Navy (similar) | Button Down: Old Navy | Blazer: Target
Booties: Cole Haan | Necklace: Loft (no longer available)
I mentioned something begin shiny and new in this post, right? Check the BOOTS! Ankle boots, at that! Ankle boots can be tricky for us under 5’4 but after seeing them around and how to style them, I was on board. I feel like my boot collection is finally complete. I’ve been wanting these for some time but I just can’t swallow that price tag (Kate has a lot of pride, y’all). So when I found these lovely alternatives on Rue La La, I was super pleased. I must say, I actually like these more! It doesn’t hurt that it has the Nike Air technology that Cole Haan shoes are (were – they are no longer owned by Nike) known for, so they are super comfy, even with a 4 in heel. The rest of the outfit continues my resolution for 2014 to play with patterns, layers and color.
What are you wearing, #petitecrew? Any shiny new items rounding out the wardrobe?

At 5’2″ and a short-legged 5’2″ at that, I can’t bring myself to do booties. Every single pair I’ve ever tried makes me look like Stumpy McStumperson.
I totally understand. They are a tricky item to work with. I think the higher the actual boot (heel and shaft) the easier it is to wear them. Then again, it’s not for everyone and knowing that is more than half the battle. #TMYK
