5 Things I’m Looking Forward to this Spring

Much like my comrade  and the rest of the Eastern Seaboard, I am over winter.  You know what I wore yesterday? Well of course you do, thanks to the #outfitselfie, but in case you missed it – A WOOL SWEATER! On March 27! In NORTH CAROLINA! BECAUSE IT WAS 35 DEGREES! Sorry to shout at you like this, but it’s worth getting rowdy about. See, I’m used to having the following seasonal schedule:

seasons

See all those warm, lovely, non-I-want-to-curl-up-and-cry-because-it’s-so-dark-and-dreary months I get to enjoy? Yeah this year, not.so.much. So with gusto and emphatic cheering, I welcome Spring, which is supposed to arrive this weekend. Since this season decided to be fashionably late this year, I’m looking forward to a fashionable Spring.

1. Cover Me in Color.
You know something you can’t wear when it’s below freezing? A trench. After a winter of wool peacoats (which I love!), I’m ready to  throw on some of my favorite lightweight cotton coats and blazers that add a little something to your overall outfit. I’m currently crushing on this doll right here. This play on the classic khaki trench would be a wonderful addition to my collection:lofttrench

 2. Florals!

I know! But with my new love of mixing patterns, I’m all about getting some new pieces in the rotation. This Dorothy Perkins skirt is in the bag. I just need to click purchase.  Dorothy Perkins carries petites!! So this could be wonderful!

3. Wrap it up!
Hair wraps that is. I don’t know what it is about spring but it always signals time to throw on a hair scarf. I love this little nod to my love of retro style and after having to cover my hair for weather reasons, I celebrate the chance to add hair accessories because I can! The Graceful Oasis headband from Mod Cloth is speaking to me. I can’t wait to pair it with some ankle pants, nude-to-me ballet flats and a bright top.

4. Nailed it!
Spring signifies growth and I’m in the process of growing my nails out. A long time nail biter, I’m ready to let this go and what better way to break this habit than to keep a fresh mani. I’m ready to throw a little pattern on them to be playful but professional. There’s a wonderful nail tech in the area  who does hand designs and is awesome. She will see more of me in the next few weeks.

5. Sun, Sun, Mr. Golden Sun!

SADD is real y’all. The lack of sunlight after you’ve sprung forward is just depressing. While I may not be your typical outdoorsy type, I am a patio outdoors girl. I’m ready to play in my flower boxes. I’m looking forward to trips to Logan’s Garden and Patio Store. There’s a Lowe’s near me and by summer the Garden Center folks know my name. I’m ready to dust off my sunglasses and open the windows, because bronzer can only do so much. Everyone needs a little color on their cheeks!

In short, I bid you farewell, Winter. Judging by the 10-day forecast, you had your last hoorah. I’ll see you in January.
