You may remember one of my style resolutions was to add more patterns to my wardrobe. Not one to give up on a good resolution, I set off to my favorite inspiration station, to see what possibilities were in store. Many scrolls later, I found this:
So fun! It looked effortless and sleek, which is hard when you’re mixing patterns. What’s even better is that as soon as I saw it, I knew I could recreate it without having to buy a thing! Bonus!
Here are a few tips when putting together different patterns:
* Have a dominant pattern (florals in this case) and then a subtle pattern (stripes). Two dominant patterns ends up looking like you got dressed in the dark.
* Try the same color palette to ease you into the idea.
* Don’t buy anything new. If you do, buy pieces you know you love already and not for this particular ensemble.
* Throw the rules out the window and have fun! (Seriously, it’s just clothes. You can always pick out something else.)
Now that I’ve taken the first step, I’m excited to mix some other patterns together. Polka dots and plaid? Florals and animal? Watercolors and chevron? Whatever it is, the #petitecrew will be the first to know!
