#OutfitSelfie 3.15.14: The Spoils of Post-Season Sales

Hey guys, I’m Nora, and I don’t like paying full price for clothes. Luckily for me, post-season sale time is upon us! And, because we’re having an extended winter, I don’t have to wait six months to enjoy the spoils of my search.

Two items I’ve been trying (and failing) to find for ages: an oversized, cozy cowlneck sweater that is also flattering, and a great pair of tan boots that fit my curvaceous calf muscles. See above for the winners!

This yak wool sweater has a very slight cowl, which I love – too many gigantic, draping cowls with as much cloth as the rest of the sweater combined have left a bad taste in my mouth. The best thing about the sweater, though, is the extremely deep side vents – it makes the shape modern, not mom.

The boots were a lesson in persistence. 6pm.com doesn’t do reviews, so you have to do a bit of research to find out how something will fit. After finding the same item (but for more money) on other websites, I decided they were worth the gamble – and boy, did it pay off! The leather is buttery soft, the ankles fit perfectly, and the western detailing is precisely the look I was going for.

With these big statement pieces, I didn’t need anything other than a pair of great-fitting jeans and some fabulous jewelry. My beloved northern star ring from Elizabeth & James plus a pair of green drop earrings from Kendra Scott offset the look beautifully. And, since the weather was in the 50s last night, it was the exact amount of weight I needed for a chilly-but-not-cold night. Hooray!
