It’s that time again! Last week a received that little box in the mail and I couldn’t wait to see what was in store. One of my friends had posted her haul on Instagram which made me pumped for my own.

When I opened the January box this is what I was greeted with two hair products, mineral eye shadow, a sample clothing refresher and nail polish. Of my five items this month I was excited about two of them and have only had the chance to use one. Take a guess at what they were?

Something I’m noticing about the color choices is that they are colors that aren’t really business appropriate. If they had included Nail Rock in the color pictured or even the Moon Caviar, I would have tried it by now. This lack of color awareness also came across in the mineral eyeshadow. I really like the consistency and pigment that comes from Inika mineral dust. This silvery teal doesn’t fit the profile of someone who chose classic style. So I wear it sparingly but I do think it will be great for a smokey eye, just not everyday wear.

So there’s where I am with Birchbox. I’m hoping that next month’s box will work out better. If not, there are several others to try!
